Beyond Aidan

Aidan and the Montessori curriculum prepare students to thrive wherever they go next—and our students go on to succeed at the most prestigious independent middle and high schools in the area.
We understand the importance of this transition and we support our families through each step. Using our knowledge of each student and the regional school landscape, we help guide each family as they determine the school their child will attend following Aidan. Our Head of School plays a central role in offering guidance and advice in the following ways:

6th grade parents meet with the Head of School to learn about available school options, admission dates, SSAT preparation, forms, teacher support, additional resources,

Our Head of School also meets individually with 6th grade parents to discuss an initial list of school choices.

As parents and students begin school visits, they may opt to meet with our Head of School again to discuss revisions to their lists.

After parents and students determine the list of schools to which they will apply, Aidan prepares and sends to those schools a packet that includes teacher recommendations, transcripts, and progress reports.

In January and February, the Head of School meets with the admissions officers in each school to promote Aidan students as candidates for admission. Our graduates have an outstanding record of achievement in the area’s leading independent private and public schools.

Transitioning from a Montessori to a Traditional School

The older the child, the easier the transition. Most Aidan students report that they settled quickly into the routine of regular classrooms and periods.
