Several students in Ms. Majeed's Lower Elementary class have studied weather patterns around the world since the beginning of the school year. This week, they traveled to see the Hurricane Hunters' Tour at Reagan National Airport to learn how weather specialists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Air Force study tropical cyclones.
After interviewing meteorologists, engineers, and pilots, they toured the weather aircraft on display to learn how wind speed, precipitation, and other indicators are measured. They returned with information for their final presentation.
Special thanks to parents Jonathan P. and Martin S. for chaperoning!
