Young Children's Community (YCC)

Aidan's program for children ages 18 months to 3 years helps our youngest students to develop physical independence, emotional development, and language proficiency while engaging with their peers in a supportive and nurturing community.

During the first three years of life, children absorb new information seemingly without effort. They are constantly and spontaneously acquiring new skills and knowledge. Each day, they refine their motor skills, enrich their vocabulary and communication abilities, learn to navigate social interactions, and enhance their concentration and independence.

At Aidan, our approach to learning is carefully designed to support children in this stage of development. Lessons and activities are focused on helping children develop physical independence. Children learn to water plants, slice fruit, and wash dishes. They manipulate puzzles, make music, “read” books, and create art. They learn how to dress themselves, and to use the toilet independently.

Our YCC classrooms are deliberately planned to provide toddlers with a safe environment to practice movement, concentration, and develop self-confidence. Furniture and decorations are arranged with thoughtful consideration. Tables and chairs are made of wood and are the right size for children's bodies. Age-appropriate activities and supplies are accessible, placed on shelves and in cabinets that children can easily reach.

Aidan's YCC program has two classroom communities. Each community is led by a teacher who has earned a 0-3 diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale. Each lead teacher is supported by two assistants. Each community can accommodate 12 students, maintaining a 4-to-1 child-to-adult ratio.
