Aidan's Village of Choice Summer Camp

June 18 through July 27, 2018 - Ages 5-12

What does a day in the Village of Choice look like?

Like our year-round Montessori program, Aidan's summer program emphasizes giving each child a choice in how to spend the day, every day.

Campers will go on trips, play games, swim (both instruction and play), and have cookouts with their counselors and teammates each week. They will also have ample access to our caring and creative staff, with a 1:3 Counselor-to-Camper ratio.

What sets our program apart, though, is that campers individually choose what they'll be doing during special Activity Periods every day.

REGISTRATION CLOSED FOR 2018

How it Works

Villages & Teams

Each child is in a large group called the “Village.” The Village is the camper’s home base. Within the Village, children go on field trips, play board games, have cookouts, and enjoy unscheduled time.

Within each Village are “Teams” that are made up of three campers and one counselor. Campers within a Team are within the same three-year age range. The counselor checks in with their children throughout the day, helps them figure out their daily activities, supports them with challenges at camp, is the direct point of contact for parents, and spends a significant amount of time getting to know each of their campers.

For a more detailed understanding of when children will be where, see the daily schedule below.

Activity Periods & Choice

Each morning and afternoon, campers are presented with choices for how they'll spend their activity periods - two in the morning, and two in the afternoon.

Activity Departments

Activities in each of the seven following categories are offered during each Activity Period:

Daily Schedule*

Explore the greater DC area's many wildernesses! Each day a group of campers will have the chance to leave campus and spend the day in nature's beauty. Taking a day to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of the wilderness is something we all benefit from. From the infamous Billy Goat Trail to the nearby Western Ridge Horse Trail, day trippers will adventure on foot and eat an amazing packed lunch on the trail, all the while singing, telling jokes, learning, and (of course) snacking on GORP (although, depending on allergies, maybe no "P").
