The Aidan Experience

Learning is an Adventure at Aidan Montessori

Aidan's Montessori approach begins with a deep respect for children as individuals and focuses on their whole development to aid them in becoming independent, self-motivated, and contributing members of the world community.

Our Philosophy

Here, Children Can Be Children

A Montessori education is joyful, fun, and personal. Students are not over-programmed and over-scheduled – instead, they are free to explore, question, and imagine things beyond their own experience. This pioneering approach allows Aidan to nurture and preserve childhood, and encourages authentic learning and growth.

A Community of Grace, Courtesy & Respect

When you visit Aidan, you can expect our three-year-old students to introduce themselves and offer you tea or coffee. You will have doors held for you, hear "please" and "thank you" consistently, and may see students calmly working on conflict resolution. Aidan students learn to respect each other, our community, and the broader world.

Aidan Welcomes All

Whether you’re in D.C. for a moment or forever, Aidan will become your family’s community for life. Aidan families are involved and supportive, forming meaningful friendships and sharing joyful experiences, creating a dynamic family network in and out of our classrooms.

We strive to maintain an inclusive, diverse, equitable environment where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging.

Why Mixed-Aged Classrooms?

Combining students across age and grade levels deepens individual learning and community building. This allows Aidan students to access a broader curriculum, advance in developmentally appropriate stages, learn from older students, and mentor their younger classmates.
