Accessibility Statement for Aidan Montessori School

We want everyone who visits the Aidan Montessori School website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding.

What are we doing?

To help us make the Aidan Montessori School website a positive place for everyone, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level A as the initial target for the Aidan Montessori School website.

How are we doing?

We're working hard to achieve our goal of Level A accessibility, but we realise there are some areas that still need improving. The following information explains what we're doing to make that happen.

Success criteria 1.1.1:

Aidan is actively beta testing an upgrade to our content management system (CMS) that will make adding alt text to all visual media not just an option but a requirement. We plan to have all new content made through this system by September, 2018. By that time, we also hope to have the major elements of the site edited to be more accessible, using Siteimprove Accessibility Checker to guide our way.

Success criteria 1.2.1:

As we work both toward generating more time-based media and toward accessibility, we plan to add captioning and media descriptions to time-based media.

Success criteria 1.2.2:

The only pre-recorded audio currently used by the school is our podcast, Family Harmony. We are currently working to create transcripts and/or captions for past and future episodes, with the hope to complete work by September, 2018.

Success criteria 1.2.3:

We are planning to provide a media alternative in the form of static text alternatives to future video content, at the very least, and to explore other possibilities as much as possible along the way.
