Notes from Nurse Lexi: End of Year Gatherings & Summer

Dear Aidan Community,

Welcome to the final few days of Magnus app questionnaires, daily temperature checks, long days of mask wearing for students & staff, school required COVID tests, etc. --at least for this school year. I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued cooperation, understanding, persistence, and questioning during this confusing and challenging year, and for the support in my new role as a school nurse.

Throughout the year, we have had a total of 7 cases of COVID in our school building, none of which caused transmission to any other individuals in our school. This is a huge feat. All of the strategies that were put in place at the beginning of the year have created a safe and welcoming environment for the children to come to each day.

As we move into our End of the Year Class Gatherings and Celebrations, please take note of the following:

  • As required by the DC Department of Health & OSSE, all persons must wear masks on school grounds and while participating in any school-run events (this includes individuals who are fully-vaccinated).

  • Please continue to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from other families who are not within your household.

  • We continue to maintain a strict no visitor policy inside the school building, so please meet your child’s class at the location they have designated for their celebration.

  • If you are planning to attend an end of year gathering, please also be sure to complete our Aidan Montessori School Event Attendee Questionnaire within 48 hours of the event.

I wish all of our families a summer filled with much health, safety, and joy. I hope you and your families have an opportunity to get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible and able. Meanwhile, I urge everyone to practice safe travel and get tested if you or your family members experience any symptoms.

Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing you next year.

Stay well,

Nurse Lexi
