Service to others is an important part of Montessori philosophy. As a school, we aim to serve those in our immediate neighborhood as well as members of our global community. This year, Aidan has partnered with Bright Beginnings, McKenna’s Wagon and the Capital Area Food Bank for our fall and winter community service initiatives.
Beginning Monday, May 23 through Sunday, June 5, Aidan will partner with the Greater DC Diaper Bank (GDCDB) to collect diapers and baby pantry essentials as part of our Spring Fling Community Service initiative. We encourage all members of the Aidan community to participate and spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors.
How It Works
Item donations may be brought directly to the school and dropped off in one of our collection boxes located in front of the school, the Woodley Road entrance, and the school lobby. Open packages of diapers & pull-ups are accepted—simply indicate the size and number of items remaining in the package. All other donated items should be new and unexpired.
Most Wanted Items
- Diapers & pullups (strong need for larger sizes, 3 and up)
- Baby food & toddler snacks
- New and unopened bottles and nipples
- New and unopened pacifiers
- Diaper rash cream
- Baby wash

Talking to Children About the Drive
Families are encouraged to involve their children in these drives and it is never too early to model generosity and to talk with and read to children about giving to others. Consider sharing a picture of your child or your in diapers to jumpstart the conversation and check out this resource from GDCDB.
If you have questions about the Diaper and Baby Pantry Drive or would like to get involved and assist with item transport, please contact Shannon Rutngamlug.
