Nurse Notes: May Update

Hello and happy May!

Here’s to hoping that the pollen washes away very soon.

Due to the uptick in cases and the number of students who are considered close contacts, we will be modifying our testing schedule to every other week instead of once a month, moving forward. There will be school-wide testing events, held during the school day, with no closures before or after the testing, on the following days: May 3, May 17, and May 31. If there is a need for any additional testing, we will inform the community of those changes.

As DC shifts between LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH COVID transmission, please take a moment to review the chart below on how Aidan COVID policies and protocols may shift depending on the different levels of transmission. A pdf version of the chart may be found here.

Per Aidan’s Health & Safety Handbook, please ensure that you have a plan in place to pick up your child within 30 minutes if they are feeling unwell. We understand that this may be more difficult as more parents head into the office. We appreciate your support in helping to keep our community healthy and minimizing exposure to our students and staff.

As a reminder, we have been informed by the DC Department of Health and OSSE that students or staff who become symptomatic with COVID-like symptoms should be PCR tested to rule out COVID. Rapid/at-home tests are able to be used post-travel and post-exposure, but PCR tests should be used for symptomatic persons.

Please continue to vaccinate your children as they become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination. As previously mentioned, this will be a requirement for enrollment next year.

Just like the community testing prior to Spring Break, we are not requiring our toddler community to test every other week. However, if you would like to opt-in your toddler to testing, please complete this form: Toddler Community Testing Form. We assume that the toddlers who were previously opted-in to weekly testing will continue to be tested at our upcoming events. If this is not the case, please let us know.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Stay well,

Nurse Lexi
