Important Update Regarding Saturday's Under the Boardwalk Auction Event

Dear Aidan Community,

It is with regret that I announce that we are cancelling our Under the Boardwalk Auction event this Saturday and shifting to a virtual event. This is a very difficult decision as this is one of the highlights of our school year. However, this will hopefully allow us all to support the most important aspect – raising funds for our financial aid program – with a peace of mind that we are taking precautions for the safety and well-being of our entire community.

As we continue to track information and guidance from public health officials and local and national government, we are aware that limiting the impact of coronavirus will be more and more dependent on social distancing behaviors. On March 11, the District of Columbia issued an advisory against gatherings of more than one-thousand people and asked that all event organizers reconsider plans. The School's administration jointly with the Board of Trustees felt it most prudent that gathering our community together, even for an event as important and magnificent as our annual auction, would not be the right thing to do.

While we work to “deconstruct” the auction please stay tuned for information about ticket refunds and an online option for purchasing auction items, both of which should be coming shortly.

Thank you all for supporting our auction and our community. A special “thank you” to our auction volunteers, and our auction co-chairs. We know that your time, energy, commitment, and vision would have delivered amazing results.

Sincerely,

Kevin Clark

Head of School
