COVID Vaccine Requirement for 2022-2023

Dear Aidan Community,

Please be advised that the District of Columbia passed a law (§ 38–502.01) that went into effect on March 1, 2022, requiring that all students in DC public, private, parochial, and independent schools be vaccinated as they become age-eligible. Aidan Montessori School, as with all other school district schools, is obliged to follow this law. Therefore, as the law currently stands, all age-eligible students must be up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations for enrollment in the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.

If you are planning on your child having a medical or religious exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine, please read the criteria for an exemption in this DC law (§ 38–506). In order to attain a COVID-19 vaccine exemption form, you must reach out to your local Department of Health (DC if you live in DC, MD if you live in MD, or VA if you live in VA). The school and public do not have access to the required forms. Once you have attained and completed the form, you must upload it to your child’s Magnus Profile under the “Covid 19 Vaccination Card” requirement.

The DC Department of Health and CDC continue to express that vaccination is the most important thing one can do to prevent severe illness that can accompany COVID-19. Aidan supports and strongly encourages vaccines for age-eligible children and requires that all faculty and staff be up-to-date on their COVID vaccines for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year and for the coming school year.

For additional information on policies and procedures related to COVID vaccines, please review Aidan’s Health & Safety Handbook
