Call for New Board Member Nominations for 2022-2023

Call for New Board Member Nominations for 2022-2023

Dear Aidan Community,

It is the time of year when we begin our search for nominees to fill vacancies on the 2022-23 Board of Trustees. The work of the Board—focused on driving the strategic direction of Aidan Montessori School—is challenging yet rewarding, and vital to the continued success of the school. Aidan’s Board of Trustees addresses strategic, long-term issues facing the school; the Board does not work on day-to-day operational or programmatic matters.

Board service requires a substantial commitment of time. Trustees serve at minimum a two-year term, participate in at least two committees of the Board, attend committee meetings on a regular basis, and attend meetings of the full Board approximately every one or two months. Generally, we are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to Aidan and Montessori education, who have the time and energy to serve the school in this capacity and fully engage in Board work, and who are able to bring an objective perspective to Board matters. This year we are particularly interested in identifying nominees with experience in the areas of finance, advancement, or real estate.

We consider nominees from both inside and outside the Aidan community. Please consider nominating yourself or someone you know whom you believe would make a valuable and constructive contribution to the Board. Nominations may be sent by email to Brenda Haendler (bhaendler@gmail.com) by Friday, March 25th. Please provide a description as to how you or someone else would be a strong candidate, including the following information: number and ages of children at Aidan; prior volunteer experience with Aidan or related enterprises such as other non-profit boards. The Committee on Trustees will contact nominees and make its recommendations to the full Board. Selection will be determined by the number of openings and the current needs of the Board.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Brenda Haendler (bhaendler@gmail.com), Chair
The Committee on Trustees
