April is Earth Month at Aidan!

April is Earth Month at Aidan Montessori School! Instead of focusing on just one day to celebrate and take care of our beautiful planet, we are dedicating a whole month to earth-friendly activities and ideas—at school, at home, in our neighborhoods, and globally. Earth Month is an inclusive community-wide initiative and there are so many ways to get involved.

Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities, earth-friendly tips, activities, and resources, and more as our community finds ways to honor and celebrate Mother Earth this April. We hope everyone finds ways to participate, and we encourage you to share your Earth Month endeavors with our community by emailing community@aidanschool.org!

As we look ahead, next Monday, April 8 will feature the solar eclipse. While DC is not along the path of totality, we will still experience a partial solar eclipse between 2:00-4:30 PM with a maximum eclipse around 3:20 PM. This timing will likely impact our afternoon dismissal procedures, so please stay tuned for additional information from the school for this day.

Additionally, Earth Day will take place on Monday, April 22 and this year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastics, which seeks to raise awareness of the damage caused by plastic and aims to reduce global plastic production by 60% by the year 2040 (learn more here). In honor of Earth Day, we will be sharing local service activities and volunteer opportunities with our community so that we can all do our part to be stewards of our great planet!

Cheers to our beautiful planet and an awesome Earth Month at Aidan!
