Storming the Castle in November, and Notes on Cold Weather
Storming the Castle in November, and Notes on Cold Weather

by Bryan Librizzi, Director of Discovery & Summer Camps and Physical Education Teacher Home

The month of November brings with it a change in the weather. Additionally, Physical Education changes from Throwing and Catching to Kicking. We concluded the Throwing and Catching unit with skill based center work and a game called Storm the Castle. The Primary physical education students worked on proper body position, stepping with the opposing foot to their throwing hand, and throwing for distance. Elementary students worked on trunk rotation, arm follow through, and throwing for accuracy.

Physical Education will continue to hold classes outside in the cooler months of the year. Classes will take place inside if the temperature is below 26 degrees, or if it's raining. Students should have waterproof/snow shoes, something to protect their ears, and gloves for Physical Education class when the temperature is 32 degrees or below.
