ASP in April: Outside, Outside, Outside!
ASP in April: Outside, Outside, Outside!

by Joy Messick, Director of the After School Program

This past month, the Half-Day Primary children who are in ASP's outdoor group got to visit the National Zoo, the Tregaron Conservancy, and Woodley Park playground a few times each. We were able to see the feeding session of the sloth bear and join Ms. Caihaura's class on a trip to see the feeding of the pandas.

With the variety of weather we've had this past month, our afternoon group has had the opportunity to either play outside all day, play in rain puddles, help sweep up the rain on the blacktop (which they really enjoy), or spend time indoors doing artwork and playing games. Some of the Elementary children have learned how to play the board game Risk, and it's currently the most popular game in ASP.

With the weather warming up we will start sending home the cold weather clothing your child has stored in our ASP cubbies to make room for warm weather clothing. Please send us an extra tee-shirt, shorts, socks, and underwear to keep in your child's cubby to have until the end of the school year.

Thank you so much, from all of us on the ASP Staff!
