A Farewell from Zōu lǎo shī, Minfang Maguire
A Farewell from Zōu lǎo shī, Minfang Maguire

Dear Aidan families,

It has been a true honor and a great pleasure to work with you and your children over the past ten years at Aidan Montessori School. I have worked with some incredibly passionate and talented teachers and taught countless curious and outstanding students. I have seen their incredible potential in learning Chinese language. But I wouldn't have gained such strength in teaching without support and trust from you, the amazing Aidan families.

Throughout my journey as a Montessori specialty teacher, I've gained a deeper understanding of the role of an educator. I enjoy the process of guiding and inspiring my students in Chinese language and culture, but I often find myself being inspired even more by them. I value and cherish each moment spent with my students and I am so proud to see them grow from one plane of development to another. All these moments and each of my students work will always be treasured, and will continue to nourish my personal and professional lives forever.

In September, I will be teaching Chinese language as one of the world language teachers at Whittle School & Studios. My mind is filled with ambivalent feelings. On one side, I am sad to say goodbye to you all, while on the other hand, I look forward to contributing to what I have learned to help build a Chinese language-centered school.

One of my favorite quotes from Maria Montessori is "Education is a natural process carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment." These words encourage me to step out and to experience another world in my career. I hope to hear from you in the future to share with me your new experiences in life and any connection you might have to the Chinese language, French language and their cultures.

Sincerely,

Zōu lǎo shī, Minfang Maguire
