Elizabeth Henke has served at Aidan as a Substitute for Lead Faculty, an Upper Elementary teacher, a Lower Elementary teacher, and as peace educator. Upon completing her undergraduate education, Elizabeth taught studio art in Tamil Nadu, India. She then went on to earn her AMI Elementary Diploma which she applied to the Upper Elementary program at Brilliant Star Montessori School on the South Pacific Island of Saipan. After island life, she taught Humanities, Ethics and served as the Director of Community Partnerships at Montessori High School at University Circle in Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her Masters in Peace Education from the United Nations mandated University for Peace. Upon returning from UPEACE, she co-founded the Montessori Institute for the Science of Peace, which provides key tools and experiences for Montessori adolescents to become peacebuilders.
Elizabeth herself is a product of Montessori education from Children's House through 8th grade. It was while she was attending Milwaukee Montessori School, at age 10, that she chose to become a Montessori teacher. Outside of Montessori, she enjoys dance parties with her two sons and daughter, dreaming up ice cream shop concepts with her husband, cooking, baking, laughing, hiking, singing, painting, reading, and many other gerunds.
