BSHE, Family Life and Child Development, University of the Philippines
Monserrat's passion for Montessori education has taken her around the world - a couple times - and she has almost four decades of Montessori teaching experience. She worked in Montessori schools in the Philippines for four years prior to coming to the US to pursue her Montessori training. Prior to coming to Aidan, she taught at The Beddow School in Maryland for two years and The International Montessori School in Manila, Philippines for one year. After taking a one-year break from teaching, she decided that she missed the classroom and worked at Alexandria Montessori for two years and then at Henson Valley Montessori School for six. She has been at Aidan since 1993.
Monserrat enjoys reading fiction. She loves going to the National Gallery of Art to see exhibits and visiting art museums in other cities and countries she visits. She also enjoys going to the beach, decorative painting on wood furniture (which she has studied at length), and spending time with family and friends on weekends. Aside form English, she also speaks Tagalog, Ilocano (a Filipino dialect) and Spanish.
