Biography

Garret Tyson joined Aidan in the 2022-23 school year as the Director of Advancement. He holds a degree in Psychology from The George Washington University and embarked on his career in the nonprofit sector at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. During his time there, Garret provided program and development support for research studies in behavioral sciences. His professional journey then led him to The Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where he served as the Development and Grant Manager. In this role, he played a crucial part in driving annual fund initiatives, which encompassed tasks such as grant writing, outreach to local businesses, and community engagement. Prior to joining Aidan, Garret held positions at Dumbarton House in Georgetown, where he initially served as an Advancement Officer and eventually ascended to the position of Chief Advancement Officer. In this capacity, he spearheaded numerous endeavors, including the annual fund, planned giving society, multi-year capital project fundraising, and oversight of various committees.

Garret’s hobbies and passions include film, spending quality time with family, traveling with his twin brother, and playing with his cat, Roger.
