JEDI Committee

Mission

The Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee (JEDI) is a parent-led group who supports the families of the Aidan Montessori School, as well as the faculty and staff. JEDI’s mission is to help work to ensure that the Aidan Montessori community lives up to and fully embodies the words of Aidan Montessori’s Statement on Diversity and Equity.

JEDI recognizes that the differences that exist among us is what makes us unique. We honor and value diversity. We strive to include, value and embrace the many differences of race, ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background, as well as differences of gender, gender expression, sexual orientation and family structures. We believe that the diversity of our community plays a vital role in enriching Aidan’s learning  environment. We believe, as a collective, we must continually evaluate our environment to make sure it provides a safe space, intellectually, emotionally, and physically, for our children. We believe that an environment that is free from bias is essential in bridging gaps and creating genuine human connections that honor one another. We stand against all forms of discrimination and harm. 

We are committed to embracing and celebrating our differences—including those of culture, race, ethnicity, religion, age, family structure, sex and sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, socioeconomics, learning style, and world view, among others—to help form and inform a rich environment that is crucial to educating our children on their path to maturity and global citizenship. We are committed to a collaborative relationship and dialogue with the school in an effort to provide an inclusive and supportive environment that will represent, include, and uplift all of our children. 

The JEDI Committee supports and fosters healthy dialogue among Aidan families, faculty, and staff. We invite Aidan’s families, faculty, and staff  to share their unique perspectives to further enrich our community. Our goal is to work together with the school to support a culture of inclusion and empowerment of all within our community.
