One way to infuse writing with positivity is to share it. This can happen at any stage of the process; we may tell someone about a budding idea, display an illustration, or publish and perform a carefully honed final piece. Family Writing Night offers an opportunity to share the experience. Perhaps your child has never seen you write, or heard something you've composed. Gathering together via Zoom, we can model our own self-confidence as we write together in a celebratory atmosphere. I hope you will join me there on October 19th at 7:00pm!
If you're still wondering if your family should attend (yes!), here are some frequently asked questions:
What kind of writing will we do?
I will provide several prompts and tips. These will relate to your personal experiences to help build community within and between families. For example, I might ask you to write about your favorite time of day.
Who can participate?
Any members of your household, including children who do not attend Aidan.
Can I write in another language?
Yes! This is absolutely encouraged. You can choose the process that is most comfortable for you.
Do I have to share?
You will always be welcome to share, but only if you want to.
Do I have to RSVP?
Yes, please. It will help me plan if we breakout groups and who should be in them. You can RSVP here!
I don't consider myself a good writer. Does that matter?
Ah, trick question; you almost got me. You are a fabulous writer! Come find out.
