Ms. Shannon Hill
Shannon and her family joined the Aidan community in January, 2007. She and her husband, Peter, have two daughters at Aidan: Macy, who is a 6th grader in Upper Elementary, and Bryce, who is a 2nd grader in Ms. Majeed's class. Shannon has been active in Aidan's Parent Association, serving twice as its co-president, as co-chair of Evening of the Arts, and as co-chair of the Community Service Committee. She has chaired Annual Giving with her husband Peter, served as the Outreach Chair for the 50th Anniversary Celebration, co-chaired Fund-A-Student for the Auction, and served as a Room Parent & Field Trip Coordinator. Shannon was a member of the most recent Strategic Planning Committee and served two years on the Board's Diversity and Outreach Committee as a non-Board member.
Shannon holds an AB from Harvard College, a JD from Columbia University, and a MA in English from Georgetown University. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Nepal and a lawyer with Legal Services in New York City before relocating to Washington DC to work at the Children's Defense Fund. She has served on several non-profit boards in NYC and DC, including most recently the DC Board of Advisors for After-School All-Stars, a national organization providing school-based, comprehensive after-school programs for low-income youth.
