What ages does Aidan Montessori School serve?

A

We have a toddler program for children 18 months to 2½ years, a Primary program for children 2 ½ - 6 years, a Lower Elementary for children 6-9 years, and an Upper Elementary for 9-12 year olds.

What are the hours of the school day?

A

Before-School Program: 8:00-8:40am; Toddler: 8:15-11:15am; Half-day Primary: 8:50-11:45am/12:00pm; Full-day Primary: 8:50am-2:45pm; Lower Elementary: 8:40am-3:10pm; Upper Elementary 8:15am-3:30pm; After-School Program: noon-3:00 & 3:00-6:00pm

Does Aidan have an After School Program?

Yes. Children in Half-day Primary through Elementary are eligible for the Before School Program from 8:00-8:40am and the After School Program from noon-3:00pm and 3:00-6:00pm.

Do you have a summer program?

A

No. Aidan does not currently run a summer program.

How many students do you have?

A

Aidan serves approximately 200 students ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years, from approximately 150 families.

What schools do your students attend after Aidan?

A

Our students go on to attend a wide variety of independent, parochial, and public schools. In the last several years, our students have been offered admission to the following schools: St. Anselm’s Abbey School, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Edmund Burke, Field School, Georgetown Day School, Holton-Arms, Holy Trinity, Landon School for Boys, Maret School, National Cathedral School, Norwood, Sidwell Friends School, St. Patrick’s Episcopal, Washington International School, District of Columbia Public Charter Schools, Maryland Public Schools

Is Aidan Montessori School accredited?

Yes, Aidan holds dual accreditations. Aidan is accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS)

What is the average tenure of your teachers?

A

In the Toddler community teachers have worked at Aidan from 2-19 years. Our Primary teachers have been at Aidan from 8-30 years. Our Elementary teachers have taught at Aidan for 7-35 years.

When are applications due?

A

Staff and sibling applications are due on December 13, 2013 for the 2014-15 school year.

Applications for new families are due January 13, 2013 for the 2014-15 school year. This includes mid-year Toddler and Primary students starting in January 2015.

Do you require outside testing?

A

No. Aidan does not require outside testing.

Is tuition assistance available?

A

Yes, please see the Financial Aid section on the website.

When will we be notified about the admission decisions?

A

Notification letters will be sent out by March 7, 2013 for the 2014-15 school year.
