From the Library: Best Loved New Books

I read to the Primary children each week and I thought you would be interested to know about some of the newer books that they have especially enjoyed!

The Remarkable Farkle McBride by John Lithgow, illustrated by C. F. Payne

Farkle McBride is a musical progidy who keeps changing his mind about what instrument he likes, and ultimately he decides to be a conductor so he can enjoy all instruments! In the illustrations Farkle's face is very expressive which adds to the fun of the story.

Everybody Sleeps (But Not Fred) by Josh Schneider

At my desk I always display a book that kids can look at when they stop by, and of course some books grab the children's attention more than others. Many Lower Elementary children have picked up this book and found it hilarious, as the Primary kids did when I read it to them. Fred "has a to-do list you wouldn't believe" so he doesn't sleep for most of the story, until the end, which is a very funny ending.
