Ms. Emily Skor
Emily Skor is vice president of communications for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), which represents the nation’s leading manufacturers of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. She is also executive director for the CHPA Educational Foundation, dedicated to educating consumers on the safe use of OTC medicines. As the industry’s lead communicator, she serves as a primary industry spokesperson and oversees all external communications, including media relations, public affairs, marketing, digital and social media, and consumer education.
Before joining CHPA in February 2011, she served as senior vice president at Dezenhall Resources, a nationally recognized crisis communications and issues management firm. For more than a decade at Dezenhall she helped Fortune 500 companies and industry associations manage issues affecting brand confidence and corporate reputation. She developed and executed comprehensive public affairs and public relations campaigns that included media, advocacy, coalition building, and consumer education. She represented several science-based companies and industries, advising on matters related to product safety and efficacy, corporate social responsibility, government oversight, activist/NGO protests, crisis preparedness, and crisis response.
Emily has delivered speeches, lectures, and training seminars around the globe on risk communications, crisis preparedness, and strategic communications planning. Prior to working at Dezenhall Resources, she worked at Cohn & Wolfe, a public affairs consultancy, and the Center for Defense Information, a nonprofit think tank. She serves on the board of directors for the National Council on Patient Information and Education. She also serves on the board of directors for the Madeline Island Music Camp, which provides performance training for talented young musicians. Emily is a Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wellesley College and is actively involved in Wellesley alumnae activities. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two children.
